Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life god has given them, and accept their lot in life. and it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life – this is indeed a gift from God. God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past. Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 (NLT)
Lot is from the Hebrew word cheleq (khay’lek) meaning portion, tract, or territory. Looking at these verses, we read where the writer of this book, (some believe to be Solomon and others believe the writer is unknown), is sharing with us the teaching that it is godly to work and enjoy this life. But we come to the part about “accept their lot in life” and we tend to think that it will never be better. So, once I looked up the word lot and its origin, I realized that our lot in life is that which God has planned for us from the beginning! How amazing is that? Not only are we worthy to be called and loved, but we are also worthy to live a life that God has planned for us that contains wealth and health.
In all my years of trying to get life figured out, I have come to realize that there is nothing to figure out! God has already figured out all that we need. He even loves us enough to throw in the “wants” when they are beneficial to His plans. Our lot in life is nothing short of the abundant and fulfilled life that God wants to give us. Why wouldn’t we accept our lot in life, when it revolves around the love that He has for us? Our portion is Jesus! Our territory is all that God has for us to walk in! That is what our lot in life is about!!
LadyBug do not hesitate to accept your lot and walk in the enjoyment of life that God desires for us! Even though we are not to conform to this world, we still live in it and it is okay to enjoy the journey as we walk with God.
Let us enjoy the portion we were given in life with Christ as we journey through life in the manner that God had planned before we walked the earth.
Much Love,
