August 29, 2020

Today’s hope is the grandest that we have. Mark chapter 16 is one of the chapters that tell us about the resurrection of Jesus. When this chapter starts, we read about Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James planning on anointing the body of Christ for burial. As they are traveling to the tomb, they ponder how the stone will be moved so they can complete the anointing of the body. But oh, how God had other plans. As they approached the tomb, they found the stone rolled away and an ‘angel’ sitting where the body once lay. Oh, what a marvelous discovery to have made!

These two women had made plans to care for the body of Christ. They knew He was the Messiah, but until they saw the empty tomb, they may not have fully understood how he had defeated death to rise again. I am sure they had some emotions going on at this time. Fear, bewilderment, loss, and maybe doubt could have been some emotions they were trying to overcome as they saw the empty tomb of their Savior.

How many times do we have plans on how we want to serve God only to find them changed into what He wants them to be? This is probably what was going on here. God was changing the way these women would worship Christ from this day forward. After all, they were the ones that would first share the gospel about the risen Savior.

LadyBug, we can read and see how the story goes. However, these women didn’t see this coming. They only knew that they love Jesus and wanted to worship Him by anointing His body. Sometimes He will take all the plans we have about our ministry or our service to Him and make it what He needs it to be for His plan
.
Let us be willing to be Kingdom-minded and willing to adjust when God changes the plans.
