Frantz Charles – The GCP: The First Resurrection

In a world that is full of negative influences on our youth, it’s refreshing to meet a young man who is determined to bring Christian based entertainment to a generation. I’m pleased to introduce you to Frantz Charles; a young man with a vision.

Stephanie Kelley: Please introduce yourself to our readers.

Frantz Charles: Hello, my name is Frantz Charles. It’s a pleasure to meet you all and it’s an honor to be interviewed by Christian Living. I’m an author of the young adult fantasy novel The GCP: The First Resurrection. Besides being an author I’m a mentor to young men, a public speaker, and the CEO of Godly Visionz. I reside in New Jersey and am currently working on my second novel.

SK: Please share your testimony.

FC: I’ve always known God as a child growing up. I was raised in a baptist church and my father is a pastor with his own church in NY. But when I really knew God and built a relationship with him came at my darkest moments. Whether it was facing depression and suicide like my character Angela in my book, or being in a ungodly relationship with a pregnant girlfriend like Cade in my book, or dealing with identity issues like Colvin in my book, to being a strong man of God like my female character Addis in my book. God saved me in so many instances and his grace was present. I grew with God and he became not just a God I served but my father who taught me things and been there when I didn’t know any better. His love covered me in my darkest moments when I wanted to give up on life. I thank God for everything cause I’m nothing without him. I became the strong man of God because of a relationship I built with him and not by my works or just being in church. My trials and tribulations gave me the experiences to connect with young adults who have been where I was and now I can be the light to show them Christ through mentoring or my books and any business I make.

SK: When did you first become interested in writing a book, especially a “Christian” book that is specifically written for young people? What were some of the practical steps you took to achieve this goal?

FC: I was just interested in stories and writing epic storylines. As I matured I started writing stories that had real purpose behind them. My healing process began with God and through my trials and tribulation I used my pain into purpose. I used my past experiences into stories almost like a testimony to help readers but in a fun entertaining way.

SK: Can you give us a short summary of The GCP: The First Resurrection?

FC: The GCP: The First Resurrection tells the story of 3 teens who faces their own trials and tribulation while protecting holy items from Heaven against gods from another universe. 17 year old angela is dealing with the loss of her mother and depression. 16 year old Cade is protecting his pregnant girlfriend whom the gods want dead but also dealing with keeping her or letting her go for the greater good. Lastly, there’s Colvin, a cold hearted captain in the GCP who is dealing with his past and his identity while trying to save earth from the invasion of the gods.

SK: What do you hope to accomplish with your writing and how do you see God using your book?

Answer: Good question, I hope to accomplish helping people in their situations by reading the characters’ similar journey. I see God expanding my book not just in the Christian community but to the world/secular and having those people know God through my books.

SK: Are your characters based on anyone you know in real life or are they entirely fictional? If your book ever gets turned into a movie, who would you like to cast as your main characters?

Answer: All of my characters are fictional but their traits/ experiences are all parts of me and how I felt in certain parts of my life. The goal is my characters to be relatable to the readers and have the readers find a way out of their situation by reading my book. I haven’t thought that far for a cast but I do have visions of it being a movie and can’t wait!

SK: If you could spend an afternoon with one of your characters, which one would you choose and how would you spend your time?

FC: Honestly it would be with Cade. He’s in a bad relationship but he doesn’t see it. His girlfriend is pregnant and there’s gods that want her dead and people telling him to separate from her because it’s not God ordained. Cade is in love with her but he’s put in a tough spot, I would love to pour into himself especially since he lost all of his family. All he has is his girlfriend and his half brother. I see myself in Cade and my heart goes out to someone whose young, naive, on love, and hurt.

SK: How has the Covid crisis most impacted your life?

FC: Honestly, most of my business and interviews have been done online because of Covid which isn’t bad because most people were home relaxing and had free time. Covid has brought a shut down in many things so it brought about a lot of creativity since I was home a lot. All in all it’s been impacting me in a positive way.

SK: What do you see yourself doing in ten years?

FC: In ten years I see myself owning a film/TV production studio making several films. Ten years from now I’ll be 35 and I hope I’m holding conferences and summer camps to build men of God up to who they’re called to be.
