“I love you. I love you. I love you.”

Three words. Whether shouted, whispered, written, signed, or implied, those three words are important and needed. When was the last time you said “I love you.”?

Our family says “I love you” on many occasions. From birthdays to anniversaries to phone calls and letters, to everyday conversation, we are happy to express love through those three words.

When we say or write an expression of love, we are showing another person that we truly care for them. Those simple words of love and kindness can bring rest to a hurting heart and joy to special shared moments.

God showed His love for us by sending Jesus to be our Savior. We can’t comprehend or imagine the depth of love God has for His creations.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV)

Perhaps the above passage from Scripture is familiar or maybe this is your first time reading those words. Either way, know that you are God’s cherished and loved child. Through the actions of God, we have the comfort and peace knowing of His love and forgiveness.

Grandson Rowan and Granddaughter Eden know that when they visit, love will be shared through words and actions. Children learn from others. The love of God is seen through the ways they show compassion and care. Taking care of special things, hugs when one of them has a boo-boo, sharing toys, making cards and pictures for Mom and Dad, and many other examples are how they say “I love you.”

Consider how different the world would be if we all paused to show love and care in each moment. Instead of harsh words, or poor reactions to situations, what would happen if we paused and prayed first? Would our actions be different? Would a few quiet moments allow us to face difficult situations more positively?

God has called us to pray at all times. In the good moments, we give thanks. In bad moments, we seek refuge in God. Peace and rest are found in Him.

Have you shared words of love lately? Who can you love today? How can you show God’s love?

Have a blessed day and know you are loved,
Melissa Henderson
