There are 4 times in the Bible that God changed the name of people. In each case, God chose to change the name to something that was more suiting to His plans. Since Abraham was going to become the father of many nations, God wanted to reflect that in his name so he changed it from Abram. Because Sarai would become the mother of many princes, God changed her name to Sarah. When Jacob was wrestling with God in Genesis Chapter 32, he wouldn’t let go until he was blessed. God changed his name to Israel, meaning Prince with God. Then we go into the New Testament and find that Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter, because He know that Peter would be come a rock of faith for many.
Just as with these 4 men and women of the Bible, we are named by God regardless of what man may say. We are sons and daughters of God. We are righteous and valued. No matter what man may call us, God has a name that fits His plans for us. God already knows who we are. He has our name on the palm of His hand.
He calls you beautiful, prince, princess, holy, righteous, son, daughter and precious, just to name a few. Do not let man give you a name that does not define who God says you are.
