The kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Matthew 13:44 (NLT)

As we go through life without Christ we tend to focus on the treasure of the world. The material things are what holds value for us, so we store them up. We have huge bank accounts, big houses, top of the line cars, as well as the newest technological gadgets. We think we have it all. We are “content” with our riches of the world and the popularity of society. But in all those things, we still find something is missing. That is why most of the time, we keep buying even when we don’t need anything. What are we searching for?

In this verse, we read about a man who owns land who finds a wonderful treasure. He wants to keep the treasure for himself, so he hides it again. What will that ever accomplish? If the treasure remains hidden, how can it ever be used as it was purposed? How can it help those in need if it remains buried under the dirt of a field?

We should rejoice when find the treasure of salvation with all its riches from Jesus. In that rejoicing, we need to remove the treasure from the field and use that treasure as God has purposed. He has given us a treasure of grace, peace, joy, hope and love when He gave us His Son Jesus. As we share these treasures with others the value is much more than anything that we can ever own or sell in this world.

LadyBug, open that treasure chest and share all the riches that you have within you! God has placed it in your hands, and He will bring those to you who will benefit from those riches.

Let us not bury our treasures in a field, but rather open the box for others to know the goodness of God.

Much Love,
