Shellé Burnett: The Godfidence Way

I recently met this wonderful lady when she responded to a post in a Christian Women’s group asking for participants for Christian Women Living Magazine’s Question of the Week. I soon realized how big her heart is for helping women reach their potential. Meet Shellé Burnett, Thrive Life Coach, and owner of The Godfidence Way™ coaching business.

Cyndi Kay: Can you please introduce yourself and tell us little bit about your family, children, career, and hobbies?

Shellé Burnett: My name is Shellé Burnett. I am originally from London, England, but I grew up most of my life in Dallas, TX, and now in South Florida. I’m the very blessed mommy of two amazing daughters, Tatiana (23yrs) & Angelina (17yrs). In my spare time you can find me attempting to read at least five books simultaneously or trying new hobbies like kite surfing and Bikram yoga.
As a young child I went to school in Lake Como, Italy, and later back to England. I then discovered competitive ice skating, which became my passion for many years that led me to move to the US when I was 14 years old.

I am a Thrive Life Coach in my business, but it took a long winding road to get there. I started my coaching skills at the age of 15 yrs. coaching girls ice skating. Quickly I learned I had a natural talent for bringing out the best performance in someone when they didn’t know how to excel. My career has been an interesting journey from Satellite Communications, Sales, Operations, Management, and even the Restaurant industry. I later turned my passion for cooking into a six-figure career as a private chef for celebrities like Lenny Kravitz, Ellen Pompeo, and CEO executives to name a few.

My career was lucrative traveling around with clients on private jets to luxurious locations. As much as I enjoyed it, I was missing one key factor…I wasn’t doing what had come so easily to me my whole life; helping women overcome their fears and insecurities to be their best version of themselves. The more women were drawn to me for guidance, the more I knew my calling was to take my God-given gifts and use them to help women thrive, hence The Godfidence Way™ coaching business was born.

CK: Can you give us a summary on your journey with Christ — from the time you accepted Christ, to how you started in ministry (a brief testimony).

SB: My relationship with Christ started young in Christian Schools where I learned about Him, but I didn’t actually “know” Him. I attended different churches sporadically over the years, until I officially accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior in my late 20’s. One thing led to another and I strayed with the distractions of the world until March 28, 2013 when I had a personal encounter with God that changed my life forever.

I was sitting by the pool on a sunny day at The Biltmore Hotel in Miami, when a friend just happened to read out loud the parable of the farmer and the seeds, and the different types of earth in Luke 8: 5-15. I literally got struck with the Holy Spirit where I heard God speaking to me, and I ran to the hotel room where I fell to my knees and gave my life back to Jesus. On my knees, in that hotel room, sobbing my eyes out, I knew I had been separated from God. I prayed a prayer “God, please remove from me anything that keeps me disconnected from you and grow me into the woman you want me to be.”

CK: Will you tell us about The Godfidence Way and THRIVE?

SB: My coaching business The Godfidence Way™, was born out of my experience with God and what it’s like when women try to live life without Him. Women were made in His image and born to thrive. So many times, we do not know our true identity, which keeps us settling for less than we were created to be. My purpose with God is to help women tap into their unused potential, to discover their purpose, and to reignite their lives with passion and prosperity.

When women thrive with Christ the whole world transforms! I knew the day I surrendered to God it was His will for me, but it was followed by a period of shame and grief. I was 40 years old and felt I had failed at life. What I thought was the end was actually just the beginning. My life since then has had a purpose it did not have before. We live our lives forward, but we understand it backwards. Finding Godfidence means I know without Jesus I am limited, but with Him I am enough, because what I can’t do alone, I can do in partnership with Him. Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

CK: I believe that God is a very interesting and creative God! Tell me about a time when you were uncertain or unaware of a provision from God but later realized that it was all a part of His plan.

SB: Little did I know how powerful that prayer would prove to be. I felt something in me connect for the first time and my life has never been the same since. Apparently, alcohol was one of those blocks and I’ve never had the desire to drink wine from that moment. I was struck sober; I just didn’t know it till a few days later. God can make miracles happen, even when you don’t even know you need them. He always has a plan; we just need to follow his promptings.

CK: Tell us about a time you had a measurable impact on someone through your personal ministry or through your organized ministry.

SB: Watching women apply what they learn through The Godfidence Way™ coaching has shown me again and again how awesome our God is. To see them accomplish their dreams, and create healthy families and relationships, is a living testament of the power of God working through us all.

CK: Best piece of advice you’ve ever received.

SB: The best piece of advice I ever received was to never doubt the power of one prayer. It came straight from the Holy Spirit, and it has been my own personal experience, so I don’t doubt it…lol!

CK: Is there anything else you would like share with our readers?

SB: I believe there are no limits to what a woman can do, or who she can be, when she truly understands her identity in Jesus Christ. My program teaches women the framework to overcoming the strongholds that keep her small, to activate her soul signature thrive factor, and to live out her unused potential the way God created her to be.
