The Big One

The other evening my husband and I were invited to play games with an elderly couple. She in her late 80’s and he in his 90’s. An interesting side note is that at age 92 he still flies his airplane, ALONE!

We were warmly greeted at the door and invited to the kitchen table to play their favorite game of marbles. The game is played much like “Sorry” on homemade game boards. Either a board for a group of four or one for six. As I took my seat at the table I noticed they had a new board. I said “I’ve only played on the big one.” All of a sudden the once silent room turned into a toe tapping party atmosphere as George Straight began belting out “The Big One” at a volume set for the hearing impaired. We looked at each other a bit bewildered and surprised than an elderly voice beside me shouts. “Google, shut up!” The music instantly stopped.

I’m not sure how I feel about new technology, not knowing exactly who is listening. However there is One I know is listening and can be trusted.

Psalms 38:9 says “You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh.”

Psalm 91:15 “your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!”

Matthew 6:8 “When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.”

Isiah 58:9 NLT “Then when you call, the LORD will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply…”

Psalm 50:15 NLT “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

Psalm 18:6 NLT “But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from His sanctuary; my cry to Him reached His ears.”

Jonah 2:2 NLT “… I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me…”

Psalm 34:15 NLT “The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.”

Unlike the plastic Google box hidden amongst house plants, God knows our needs before we even ask. “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24 KJV

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ ” Isaiah 12:2 NKJV
