Unstoppable

I’ve seen a video from a year ago of Kids Say, where a young boy was being asked by a woman’s voice (maybe his mom) about what he had learned about Easter in chapel that day. With only three seconds pause the boy answered confidently with a smile, “God is unstoppable. When He dies, He just comes right back.” I super agree with him! God is really unstoppable! However, Jesus died once for all and now is alive. He does not die over and over again every Good Friday and come back alive on Easter Sunday.

When I was a kid, I diligently obeyed our many cultural traditions every Good Friday, when Jesus is said to be dead. For example, no nail should be clipped because my nails would die as well; bad luck comes when bathing at three o’clock in the afternoon because this is the time Jesus died; if you get wounded while Jesus is dead, it may not heal; noise is forbidden as the spirits of dead people are roaming around now that Jesus is dead; and the list goes on. It’s actually a gloomy Friday, followed by a gloomy Saturday which is even quieter, and looks like God is not available to listen to prayers, or even to answer them. Then Easter Sunday comes and the feeling is like Christmas. Except for the gift giving, people are in a celebratory mood—Jesus is alive!

When I came to know the Lord, I thought that believers should always have the spirit of Easter each and every day. Because He lives forevermore, we are confident that there is a sovereign power at work in our lives causing us to be more than overcomers. When Jesus resurrected, He did not only overcome death, but also all the powers of the enemy. The Lord is at work even from the beginning, and He has been unstoppable ever since. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

It’s funny how I used to make a line up of songs in worship, themed “Jesus is alive” only on Easter Sundays, like the traditional Christmas songs we hear only during the “ber-months”. Until the truth of Jesus being alive, will never die again, and is returning soon, struck me deep down inside and gave me the inspiration to declare it every time.

The beautiful truth is, God is unstoppable in hearing our praises and delights in them. He is unstoppable in listening to our prayers and answering them. He is unstoppable in fighting our battles and is always victorious. He is unstoppable in carrying out His plans in our lives, and it’s always for our benefit. He is unstoppable in everything good, and that’s just it.

“Yea, from the first day I am He; and there is none that can deliver out of My hands; what I will do, who can stop it?”

-Isaiah 43:14
