When You Fall, Get Up Again!

For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity. Proverbs 24:16 (NKJV)

Some seasons in our lives feel as if we are in the Fall. Things that were once vibrant with vitality descend like withered leaves from a tree. Everything looks gray, and it seems to rain constantly in our lives. All that comes to mind are even bleaker scenarios than our current circumstances.

Seasons like these can make us feel struck down, dull, and hopeless. We can’t see beyond our current Fall season, other than an even gloomier Winter. We forget Spring season is yet to come—a season full of new life and opportunities

In times like these, it is important to remember that God did not promise us a life free of obstacles, challenges, or calamities. Unfortunately, He didn’t… But what He promises is that when we fall, we will get up again!

We can encourage ourselves that falling is not the end. It’s an opportunity to rise again and grow stronger. The journey of life is not always easy, and we will undoubtedly face challenges and setbacks. But we must not let these obstacles define us or keep us down.

Just like a tree sheds its leaves in the fall, we too must let go of the things that no longer serve us and make room for growth. We must embrace the season we are in and trust that better days are ahead. We must have faith in ourselves and in God, who is guiding us toward our purpose.

So, when you fall, get up again! Dust yourself off, learn from the experience, and keep moving forward.

Fall seasons in our lives

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8 (NLT)

Life can bring us joy, and life can bring sadness. We can be on a smooth ride, and we can be on a rollercoaster through dark valleys.

I believe I can rightly say I have had my share of fall seasons. But I also know that as long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night (Genesis 8:22 NLT). When I keep that in mind, I get empowered to see beyond the gloomy periods in my life and expect the springtime God will definitely give again.

The Fall seasons in our lives can take many forms. It could be the loss of a job, the end of a relationship, the death of a loved one, or a health crisis. It could be a time when our dreams and aspirations seem to wither away, and we feel like we are stuck in a rut.

During these seasons, it is easy to feel like giving up, but we can remember that God is with us every step of the way. He is the One who gives and the One who takes. We also need to remember that God did not give us the bad times. The broken world we live in naturally leads to bad times.

God also gave us autonomy—meaning we make choices. The choices we make may turn out to be regrettable. We can’t blame God for those things. Neither can we blame Him when other people’s mistakes or actions lead to our fall season.

The Bible reminds us that seasons come and go, and everything on this earth is temporary. Only God’s Word stands forever. Therefore, we must not put our trust in the things of this world, but in God alone. He will take us through.

When you find yourself in the Fall season, take heart and know that it is not the end. Keep your focus on God, and He will guide you through the storm. Remember that every season has a purpose, and God will use it to grow and strengthen you.

Get up!

When we fall, the natural response is to stay down and wallow in our despair. But that is not what God wants for us. He wants us to get up and keep moving forward. He wants us to take action and trust in His plan for our lives.

To get up, we need to do something. We need to take action. Don’t just sit down and wait till things are over. Often, in the Bible, God speaks to His people to get up—both in the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Rise from the dust, O Jerusalem. Sit in a place of honor. Remove the chains of slavery from your neck, o captive daughter of Zion. Isaiah 52:2 (NLT)

Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)

Get up and prepare for action. Jeremiah 1:17 (NLT)

Arise and depart, for this is not your rest; because it is defiled, it shall destroy, Yes, with utter destruction. Micah 2:10 (NKJV)

Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? Matthew 9:5 (NLT)

Then Jesus came over and touched them. ‘Get up,’ he said. ‘Don’t be afraid.’ Matthew 17:7 (NLT)

But rise and stand on your feet. Acts 26:16 (NKJV)

Getting up requires strength, courage, and determination. It requires us to push past our fears, doubts, and insecurities. It requires us to believe in ourselves and in the God who created us.

Getting up is not a onetime event. It is a process that requires perseverance and patience. It may take time, but it is worth it. Every step you take brings you closer to your purpose and destiny. Every obstacle you overcome strengthens your character and faith.

So, when you fall, get up again!

Take action and do something that will move you forward. It could be as simple as taking a walk, reading a book, or talking to a friend. It could be as challenging as starting a new job, going back to school, or starting a new relationship. Whatever it is, do it with faith, hope, and love.

Also, learn from the experience. Ask yourself what you can do differently next time and how you can avoid making the same mistakes. Use the Fall season as an opportunity to grow and become stronger.

Finally, keep moving forward. Don’t let the Fall define you or hold you back. Keep your eyes on the prize and trust that God has a good plan for your life. Keep pursuing your dreams, your passions, and your calling. Live with purpose and meaning.

Take-away

The fall seasons in our lives can be challenging and painful, but they are not the end. Don’t let the Fall season define you or keep you down. Those seasons are opportunities to grow, to learn, and to become stronger.

When you fall, get up again!

Dust yourself off, learn from the experience, and keep moving forward with faith, hope, and love.

Every setback is an opportunity for growth, and every challenge is a chance to become stronger.

Embrace the season you are in, trust in God, and take action. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. He will guide you through every season of life and lead you to the abundant life He promised.
