Choosing a Life of Excellence
Proverbs for a Woman’s Day
Elizabeth George

I gravitate towards books written by Christian women whose purpose is to help women grow in their daily walk with the Lord. Proverbs for a Woman’s Day is the second book I’ve read by Elizabeth George. I’ll be reading more in the future.

Proverbs is one of my favorite books in the Bible. It was refreshing to dig further into it with the help of Elizabeth George. She begins her book with Dear Seeker of God’s Wisdom, where thought-provoking questions are asked. Then she says, “Well, good news! God has all the answers you are seeking in the book of Proverbs.”

I’ve read through Proverbs many times, with several verses underlined and notes written in the margin of my Bible. Proverbs for a Woman’s Day was a delight to read. From Day 1 through to 31, I was taken on a journey through this incredible book of the Bible. My eyes were opened to see and my heart to understand Proverbs to a greater depth. The author openly shares her own personal life experiences. She desires that women know who they are in Christ, and be all that God destined them to be. For me; reading her words compared to hearing them from a wise and trusted friend.

The Contents page provided the theme for 31 days of Proverbs. For example: 1. Beginning Your Every Day – Wisdom; 3. Finding Peace in a World of Chaos – Trusting God; 5. Being a Faithful Wife – Marriage; 17. Being a Good Friend – Friendship; 23. Choosing What You Eat and Drink – Health; 31. Being Beautiful in God’s Eyes – Excellence. Each daily reading concludes with: God’s Wisdom … For Your Day. The author reveals how to apply the wisdom of Proverbs in one’s life.

Elizabeth George was advised years ago to read a chapter in Proverbs daily. That this practice would give direction for her practical life, and she found it to be true. She encourages her readers to do the same. I fully understand why; and have incorporated this practice for myself, and I’m reaping the benefits.

Proverbs for a Woman’s Day will be kept in my Faith Library. A valuable resource to have on hand. What’s shared in this book will broaden women’s knowledge of God, how His wisdom will enhance their lives.

God placed this book in my path. He knows me best; and obviously had a greater purpose for my reading it. Proverbs for a Women’s Day truly blessed me. A great book for women of all ages and stages in life.
