What will your fashion Core be this summer?
What will your fashion core be this summer? You may be wondering what I mean by fashion core. This is a new term that many in the younger generations are using to term or call their fashion style. A lot of the fashion trends that you will see will fall into one of these core categories. You may find that you fall into one of these categories with your fashion style or you may be a combo of a few of the core styles. I tend to fall into a few of them myself.
The six main cord fashion styles of the summer are as follows: coastal core, western core, active core, Barbie core, grunge core, and denim core.
First, coastal core is the trend of wearing a very coastal inspired outfits. By coastal, I want you to think of styles from the Jersey Coast. These are things that have that nautical feel like the blue and white stripes. They wear a lot of white, a lot of linen and light weight sweaters. This is not to be confused with tropical vibes, which would be more along the lines of Hawaiian flowers or palm leaves. Coastal core is more so like adding anchors, and a lot of the navy blue and white combined.
The western core has become increasingly popular over the past few years. The western core is a combination of cowgirl boots, cowgirl hats, fringe added to the outfits, denim short shorts and western inspired y-shirts. When you think of this core, imagine picking out something you would wear to the rodeo. This style is popular in the summertime because of the rodeos that are going on throughout the summer -I t’s more of a summer activity. You will see some people that will carry this trend through the year but most of the time it will only be through spring and summer.
Active core is something that has been around for a while, but is transforming. This summer instead of the tight leggings, the active core is moving towards more of a looser fit cargo pants style. It is not so much fun to wear tight clothing in the summer as that just increases the heat and traps the heat next to your body. Looser fit, lightweight, cargo pants are a much more feasible option. They’re not as cute but they are definitely more comfortable. I have already seen a ton of cargo inspired clothing entering into the market and less so emphasis on the tight leggings.
As many of you know, the Barbie movie is coming out this summer. There is a core group of ladies that like to dress as a Barbie core. This means that pink is not just a color we wear on Wednesdays. Barbie core is a lot of pink, a lot of lacy, girly, feminine, ruffles … think cute. So Barbie core is more of like a feminine style. If you don’t want to call it Barbie, you can call it the feminine core. Pink has been around for a long time as a popular color. But it is even more so now increasing as a trend to wear pink, and to be a part of the Barbie core.
Grunge core is something that you will most likely see more GenZ and younger wearing. It is these hugely oversized clothing with rips and holes in them. Clothing that looks like they dug it out of the trashcan. Hence the name grunge. It’s not really fashion, it is more so just trash. I am so disappointed that fashion designers are making money off from this type of stuff , I can’t even call it clothing because it is not anything that anybody should choose to wear. But the younger generation seems to think it is cool to wear this, so to each their own. We hope one day they will grow into a better fashion sense or gain some fashion style.
The last core is the denim core. Denim is some thing that will never go out of style. This summer we are seeing denim come back in all kinds of ways. Denim skirts are definitely back in, especially the longer skirts. There are also tons of overalls coming back into style. And wearing an all denim outfit is a thing, so whether it is a dress made out of denim, or a shirt and pants set, or a jumpsuit – all denim is definitely in for the summer.
So, here are six of the main core fashion trend styles that you are already seeing come out for the summer time. For me personally, I will be wearing a mixture of Barbie core and denim core with maybe a sprinkle of a western core.
