30 Days with the Word – January 25

30 Days with THE WORD
January 25, 2021

John 1:1-2, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He (the Word) was in the beginning with God (NKJV).’

Proverbs 31:25-31, ‘Bold power and glorious majesty are wrapped around her as she laughs with joy over the latter days. Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness as loving instruction pours from her lips. She watches over the ways of her household and meets every need they have. Her sons and daughters arise in one accord to extol her virtues, and her husband arises to speak of her in glowing terms. There are many valiant and noble ones, but you have ascended above them all. Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but this virtuous woman lives in the wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity. So go ahead and give her the credit that is due, for she has become a radiant woman, and all her loving works of righteousness deserve to be admired at the gateways of every city (TPT).’

This is a little personal; my sweet momma’s birthday is today. My momma is the most godly woman I now know. She hasn’t always walked with the Lord, but when He found her, He got a jewel. She is sold out to Jesus and has been ever since they were introduced. He has changed my mom in ways I didn’t think were possible, and He is evident in every way she walks through this world. I am glad my mom didn’t know and love Jesus years ago like she does now, because it gave me hope that I would someday perhaps be able to walk in the steps she learned to walk in of His. I also am the product of a mother’s prayers. I imagine I would not be where I am today had my mother not had a heart that beat for Jesus and for me at the same time.
My mom is beginning to look at life in her rearview mirror. I am so very thankful for every moment we share together still. I realize there are many distractions today where women are concerned. Many climb corporate ladders and pursue personal achievements. Flashy fashions and show homes and pricey possessions top the charts. There is nothing wrong with that at all. But little is said about virtue and integrity, the type of honor that is esteemed and revered, the type of uprightness that distinguishes the Proverbs 31 Woman. I have had the distinct privilege of being the daughter of a righteous woman, who has pointed me to Jesus at every bend in my road, who has displayed His holiness to me in so many manners, and I give her the credit that she is due. When I look at my mom, I truly see the face of God. Her fear of the Lord will forever be my lighthouse and will be a lamp to my path. Happy Birthday, Momma. I love you.
