30 Days with the Word – January 8

30 Days with THE WORD
January 8, 2021

John 1:1-2, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He (the Word) was in the beginning with God (NKJV).’

It never ceases to amaze me how much time and money human beings spend on attempts at reversible measures. I am just as guilty as the next! From reversing the signs of aging to reversing the proof that we binged ate everything in sight to assuage stress levels or boredom to reversing poor choices and the consequences of our actions. There is a tip and likely a product available for just about everything that ails us on the market today.
But I believe there is only one which can stand every test of time, and that, sister, is the Word of God. God’s Word will never grow old, it will never not exist. It may be translated into other languages and versions, but the heart of His Word is unchanging. It is His breath spilled across the pages through the clarity of the Holy Spirit which we learned yesterday is for our instruction and correction so we can make proper and wise decisions.
1 Peter 1:23-25 says, ‘For through the eternal and living Word of God you have been born again. And this “seed” that he planted within you can never be destroyed but will live and grow inside of you forever. For: Human beings are frail and temporary, like grass, and the glory of man, fleeting like blossoms of the field. The grass dries and withers and the flowers fall off, but the Word of the Lord endures forever! And this is the Word that was announced to you! (TPT).’

I wonder what would happen in my life this year if I would focus as much if not more energy on the timelessness of God’s Word – knowing it, understanding it, carrying it with me on the tip of my tongue wherever I go – as I do on all the self help remedies that captivate my time. I think I’ll give it a try…anyone with me?
