Day Fifteen: Surrendered

Psalm 46:10, ‘Surrender your anxiety. Be still (cease striving) and realize that I am God. I am God above all nations, and I am exalted throughout the whole earth.’ (TPT)

Do you find it crazy too that the God of the Universe—Who owns the cattle on a thousand hillsides, Who sets galaxies in place and counts your breath and mine, Who measures the oceans in the hollow of His hands and calculates the dust of the earth—also cares so much He beckons us to yield our anxiety and give it to Him?

This causes me to pause in His presence and suck in a deep breath. I feel a fluttering of peace well inside as a realization bigger than me settles in. As I kneel at His feet—yes, in a posture of surrender—I exhale in the stillness and vastness of His omnipresence. I feel myself begin to come close, the tension of life, the concern for the moment, the dread of the unknown, the misery, the panic, the restless uncertainty of tomorrow, the mistrust and angst, all ebbing away like the tide being summoned out to the deep. There is a calmness in knowing He is God and I am not, and because I am not, I am not held responsible for anything beyond my control, outside of my reach, not within the scope of the ability He has breathed into me.

God, I am so very grateful that You are all-powerful; that You are God, and I am not, and I can therefore yield and submit to You. If I let You be in control, then there will not be anything out of control because You hold it—and me—all together in the palm of Your hand. In fact, I don’t have to do anything today other than be still, breathe in, breathe out, and let You have Your rightful place…let You be God over all.

Is there anything you are holding onto today that if you surrendered to Jesus, it might be easier for you to breathe? Consider giving Him His place and position in your life, and in yielding to Him, the self-doubt and race toward achievement might become less essential.
