Father, May I? May 1st

Father, May I?
May 1, 2021

Father, may I? came a voice inside my head.
Where’d that come from? Another voice then said.
I don’t like to ask permission; I simply like to do.
But, I’m sure I heard Him say, ‘It’s about more than you.’
I thought of all the decisions. I had made many on my own,
The times I wanted comfort but felt so all alone.
All the second guessing: had I chosen right?
Or would left have kept me from pitfalls in the night?
What would’ve happened: May I take two steps or three?
Would the choices now so costly possibly then been free?
I didn’t think to ask You, Father, if I left it up to You,
What might have turned out different if I had taken few
Steps without Your leading, less decisions on my own;
If I had left You crowned and sitting on my throne.
So I want to make some changes. I want to start again.
Will You direct my footsteps; help me to begin
Walking on that path, the one that leads to You,
Narrow is the gate, and Your Word says seldom few
Will be patient in the seasons, will wait so they can fly,
But count me faithful, Father, so I can ask, ‘May I?’

I want to know the Father’s opinion about everything!
Won’t you JOURNEY with me this month as we ask our Father, ‘MAY I?’’
