God Get’s All of the Glory There’s Nobody Greater!

By Yvette Urquhart

Our God is worthy! There is no one like Him nowhere. He is mighty, swift, powerful, strong, almighty, amazing and awesome! He can do anything but fail. Absolutely nothing is too hard for our God. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. He was here before the beginning and He will be here until the very end; from everlasting to everlasting He is God. He is God our creator, master, our help, hope, strength, our refuge, our way maker, a great deliverer, our hiding place, our solid rock, our provider, our everything and our all in all. Inasmuch as there is none like you O Lord. You are great and Your name is great in might. Who would not fear You, O king of the nations? For this is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, There is none like You, Jeremiah 10:6-7 (The Message Bible)

I am sure that we can agree that there are some amazing people who have done and are doing some phenomenal things. Man has achieved some great accomplishments. There are many who have gone down in history for their contributions to our society. We study them in history books, there are holidays and streets named after them, we see their exhibits in museums, we snap pictures of statutes and monuments named in their honor, we view movies and documentaries that teach us about them and the impact they made in our world. There have been some great men and women that have dwelt among us, but there is nobody greater than my God.

I remember one of my favorite history stories in which we learned about the great Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus discovering America. He is credited with discovering the America’s in 1492. However, there has been some controversy as to who really discovered America. Some say that about 500 years before Columbus arrived that some Vikings led by Leif Eriksson set foot in North America. Since 1937 there has been a national holiday in the United States that commemorates the day Christopher Columbus set foot in America. I can only imagine how excited he was about this great discovery. Columbus discovered America but God created the universe! You alone are the LORD You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them and the heavenly host bows down before You. (Nehemiah 9:6)

I never will forget that dreadful day, 9/11/01. The images from this dreadful day will be forever etched in the minds of many Americans. I am sure that the terrorist that carried out these attacks were feeling very accomplished to have carried out such a plan that shocked us, caught us off guard and caused such panic and chaos. Almost 3000 people were killed during this horrific attack. I believe these terrorist thought they had done something, caught our eye and captured our attention and brought America to our knees. These terrorist get no glory. The devil has tried to steal God’s glory since the beginning of time. It all started in the Garden of Eden when Satan slithered his way in the picture and planted a seed of doubt in Eve’s mind. He is sneaky, cunning, evil, conniving and a great trickster. Satan deceived Eve by making her think that if she eats the fruit, her eyes will be opened and they will be like God. Never! That was a lie straight from the pit of hell! There is absolutely nothing or no one that can steal God’s glory. This is what the Lord says to you: Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. (2 Chronicles 20:15) When we belong to Christ, the enemy never has the final word over our lives. We are secure in God’s hand. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Eve in death, God get’s the glory.

I am sure we can all attest to the fact that many a great men and women have walked this earth. There are some individuals that have done some extraordinary things. There are those who have been applauded, recognized, highlighted on the news, featured on the cover of magazines, received prestigious awards, nominations and designations for their greatness. There are those who have gone where others dared not go and did what others would never attempt or have the courage to do. Then there are those with exceptional talents, gifts, abilities, creativity, wisdom, knowledge, ideas, insight and intellect. You have heard of some of these great giants that have lived and still live among us: Socrates a great philosopher, Charles Darwin who developed the theory of evolution, Mozart the amazing Austrian composer, Leonardo da Vinci an Italian scientist, artist and polymath, Pablo Picasso who was an awesome Spanish painter and sculptor, Pope John Paul II, Eleanor Roosevelt, Princess Diana, Beethovan,

John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, Susan B. Anthony, Jesse Owens, Babe Ruth, John Lennon, Michael Jackson the king of Pop, Thomas Edison, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the renowned Civil Rights activist, Maya Angelou, Bill Gates an American business magnate and Barack Obama our 44th president who made history as the first African American to hold this office to name a few.

As great as these men and women have been and continue to be with their discoveries, contributions, accomplishments, sacrifices, awards, accolades, breaking down barriers, paving ways, making history, their grandeur, beauty, elegance, distinction, eminence, notability, prestige and glory; none of this can compare to the glory that is due our God. A God who can speak in darkness and light comes forward; a God who can take the dust of the ground and create a man; a God who can make a highway in the midst of the sea; a God who can take two little fish and five barley loaves and feed 5,000 men not including women and children and still have leftovers; a God who can speak and even the wind and the waves obey His command; an unchanging God who cannot lie and will never die, He gets all of the glory!

Man has done and continues to do great things and I applaud him, but God gets all the glory. Many a great kings and presidents have ruled and reigned but our God is the King of kings and He reigns forever. No one can beat Him, no one can kill Him, no one can dethrone Him! In all that we do and accomplish, we must not let pride get in our way and make us think that we did anything on our own. We must understand that without God we are nothing. We can celebrate, elevate, appreciate and recognize but let’s not forget that the real VIP and MVP is God, He get’s the glory. It is not my desire to discredit anyone but just to remind us that when we receive the awards, stand in the limelight, make it to the top, etc. that we remember who get’s the glory. You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created. (Revelation 4:11) Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen (1 Timothy 1:17)
