As we grow in our Christian walk, we long to be like Jesus. At least, that is what we should be striving for as we journey through life. Now, we won’t be perfect, but if we seek to be in Christ, then we can become more effective for the Kingdom.
To become one with Jesus, we need to learn how to tap into His vine. We learn to become branches of His vine. By becoming branches, we are able to bear the fruit that He has perfected and share with others the fruit of the spirit which is love, peace, faithfulness, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control.
We cannot grow fruit if we are not a branch on the vine. Once a limb is cut from an apple tree, that limb will no longer produce the fruit that grew while attached to the tree. This is how we are with the fruit of the spirit. If we cut ourselves away from Jesus and we do not allow Him to fill our spirit with His fruit then we are unable to produce life giving fruit for those who hunger for it. I cannot offer the love of God if I am not allowing Jesus to fill my branch with that very love. In order to share the peace beyond understanding, I must be willing to let the Holy Spirit fill me with that very peace so that my branch produces the fruit.
When we tap into the vine and become the branch, the vinedresser will prune and nourish us in a way that our fruit will be fulfilling to those who hunger.
