Off to Tomorrow

I think of tomorrow

And all that could be,

The train whistles,

Smoke wiggle in the breeze,

The golden sunset is a lady’s bead

Sitting just above the trees,

The passengers plead, the officer say,

“Your ticket please!”

The train drives away

And I leave yesterday behind.

You cannot keep me down

You drears of days gone by,

I’m on a southbound train

Steady rails that never fail,

Off to my tomorrow!

I see birds fly away

As the train passes by the trees,

So will my fears cease to be.

I travel in glee to tomorrow,

No more dreams, only living,

Taking the leap, the noisy one

Breaking the chains, the rackles will rattle

As I battle, my days to settle,

This train I’m on cannot be stopped,

The rail beside hot cinders

Is the way to the future.

Yesterday is blur, tomorrow is bright.

I travel in glee to tomorrow.
