Powerful Transformation

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Has God done a work in your life that has transformed you from the “old” to the “new?”
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The new doesn’t come all at once. We change, he molds and shapes us, over the course of time as we allow him to work in us and through us. As we grow in our knowledge of him, we are to think, speak, and act accordingly. This is part of our transformation.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourself. (James 1:22)

We must NEVER deceive ourselves into thinking that God is finished with our transformation. We must never think that his work on us, in us, or through is done. We continue to be transformed, renewed, and changed through our time here on earth, and that change is not finished until we are in his presence.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)
I have seen a lot of transformation in my life as I have found my new identity not in WHO I am, but in WHOSE I am. I have witnessed God taking me directions I never thought I could go, bringing people and situations into my life that I never would’ve expected, and leading me to heights I never could imagine!
But I have also seen the areas where I am still definitely a work in progress. One such area being letting my anger and frustration get the best of me.
Some of our moments of transformation are very apparent, others are more subtle. But always, he is working.

Let not corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29)

What comes out of your mouth? Is it good for building up? Does it fit the occasion? Does it give grace to others? If your answer is “no” at this moment, don’t worry. God is still working in you.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

He is working in you, today, right at this moment. He is transforming you into that new woman he calls you to be, to do all the specific unique things he calls you to do. Through our transformation, we all have a purpose. He gives each of us specific gifts that we are to use for his glory.
What gifts has he given you? What purpose has he impressed upon your heart for his glory? How are you serving him? If you are a new creation in Christ, does anyone notice? Have you taken off your old self and put on the new?

God wants to use you. Now is the time! Allow him to continue his transformation in your life. Allow him to call you to new places, draw you out of your comfort zone? Trust him. Ask him to increase your faith as you move forward in your new identity as a daughter of the King.

When I think about faith, I think about the woman with the issue of blood. Her faith was strong.

And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had immediately been healed. (Luke 8:47)

Her faith was that strong. We must believe that not only was she healed physically that day, but she was transformed spiritually as well. I’m certain if she could have looked in the mirror after that encounter with Christ, she would have seen the change in herself. She would’ve recognized her true identity as a child of God.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave them the right to become children of God. (John 1:12)

Has God transformed your life? Do you believe that you are a child of God … chosen, holy, sanctified, valued, loved beyond measure?

Is your faith strong that he is continuing to work in you, ironing out your wrinkled places, making you into that beautiful new creation he calls you to be?
As you gain a better understanding of WHO you are, are you fully aware of WHOSE you are? When you look in the mirror, do you see transformation staring back at you? Do you see God’s beauty in your reflection?
