A Proverb a day keeps Untruth away

Proverbs 1:1-6, ‘These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king—written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; a manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.’ (MSG)

Prescription (RX) Twenty-Eight:

Proverbs 28:2, ‘When the country is in chaos, everybody has a plan to fix it—But it takes a leader of real understanding to straighten things out.’ (MSG)

How appropriate for the current climate not only in our nation, but also in our world. In fact, this has been going on for quite some time, even since the beginning of democracy. There are times that are worse than others, and this happens to be one of those times. We are in the midst of a mecca of confusion and consternation, crisis and chaos. And EVERYONE is screaming about ways to get us out of the mess we are in. Newsflash: Jesus Christ is the Only Way, the Truth and Life; He is the Real Deal; He is the Solution and the Fix!

But we will always choose to rely on ourselves, regardless, won’t we? We have a plethora of answers and solutions, reasonings and statistics. We don’t easily yield or give in and we will always have an answer for anything. Perhaps this is why we are in such a quandary right now; we should know better, we should have the answer; we shouldn’t even be here now.

We dismantled a lot of properties this past year. We tried our own hand and we failed. We are still trying, and we are still failing, but we haven’t submitted to the Lord. In fact, we have kicked Him out and said we could do it on our own; or said we didn’t like how He wished we would handle things. We are rather stumbling in the dark. The blessing is that He knows the mind of His strong-willed children and the hardened heart of mankind, and He loves us anyway. So, He waits. He is a good, good Father with a grand purpose, and it waits patiently on His timeline while we wear ourselves out. Like toddlers, we are chaotically entertained and driven, and He will let us. But He will also be there when we have stumbled and fallen flat on our faces, waiting to pick us up, brush us off and kiss away the hurt.

Hebrews 3:15a, ‘This day, if you hear My voice, do not harden your heart.’ (NIV)
