the BLESSING

Identifying the Goodness of God

November 18th, 2022

Romans 8:31-32, ‘So what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? For God has proved His love by giving us His greatest treasure, the gift of His Son. And since God freely offered Him up as the sacrifice of us all. He certainly won’t withhold from us anything else He has to give.’ (TPT)

STOPPING for DIRECTIONS

Another blessing I realize I fail to give proper homage to is the gift of His guidance in our lives. This week we spent some time being thankful for God’s Word to us and the practicality of its instruction to His children. His Word is the best self-help book you will ever choose off a shelf because all its tips and wisdom and life lessons truly transforms lives and repairs breakage and encourages us to be better people by helping others. The Good News, the Gospel! We also learned the personality of God’s character is woven through all Scripture. The integrity of God permeates every Word scripted in the Bible because that is Who He is, and He cannot go against His own spoken Word. We reminded ourselves how personal the God of the Universe is. How incredible: we can get a seat any time with the One True God. We can come into His presence, sit and fellowship with Him, yet He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Not only are we homeschooled by the greatest Instructor, we also carry within us an infallible Navigator. As a child of God, do you know, just like carrier pigeons, built inside of you is an internal GPS? Have you ever been about to embark on an adventure or perhaps headed out with friends or on the verge of making a decision to turn to the right or left, and felt something stirring in you that was uncomfortable? Maybe it’s a sick feeling you can’t shake or a touch of anxiety, something awkward perhaps or distressed signals firing in your gut? We call them gut instincts sometimes. It’s really wise to sit up and pay attention to where you are headed and who is leading you and where the feeling is taking you, because chances are, that is the Holy Spirit in you prompting you to take notice, attempting to get your attention. Remember, the Spirit goes with you where you go and He ain’t gonna wanna go some of them places the enemy is tempting you to go. “Hold up!” He is speaking.

See, this is what I feel my Father is really instructing me to learn in this current lesson of life I am living. I have made a decision that becomes more solid and definitive everyday as I grow in relationship with Him. I want to go where He goes, and I want to stay as long as He stays. I do not want to leave without Him nor do I want to go someplace where I hope He might follow. And, as Chris McClarney sings, ‘I don’t want to leave too soon or stay too long.’ What I am realizing is that comes with an indescribable desire to be in step with the Lord. When I go someplace with my husband, we are going to the same place, and we are staying as long as each other stays, and, when finished, we are leaving together. I want to be that intimate with my God also, so that as He guides me, I fall into step with Him. It sure will take the guesswork out of my travel plans!

We trust our directions and even guidance for our loved ones to electronic educators. We follow turn-by-turn instructions to a voice we sometimes identify with more closely than we do the real Navigator. I wonder what might happen if we called out to the Spirit just like we do to Siri and Google and let Him guide our steps and guard our hearts and allowed Him to lead the way.

Proverbs 3:5-6, ‘Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the One Who will keep you on track.’
