30 Days of Gratitude

Joshua 24:15b, ‘As for me and my family, we will worship God (MSG).’

Day 25 * Just Grateful: Warmly or deeply appreciative of kindnesses or benefits received; indebted and beholden

Families are complicated. Why do we hurt more those we love the most? That seems backward, Lord. But it seems to be true. Is it because we are fully known, all walls are down; we are barren, exposed? Or because we are pit against one another for attention and affection in this world? It is no coincidence that a family is familiar. The thing is though we need one another. No one can feel on the very same level about another family member as another family member, often sharing identical circumstances. I think, God, the enemy is so bent on destroying families because it breaks apart the framework of our world, destroys Your design. Just like a house is able to weather a storm when built on a firm foundation, so is a family. This year has certainly weeded out the wood, hay and stubble; the sturdy, solid and secure embrace of warm words like ‘Welcome Home’ raising anthems Your children needed to chant. I think sadly too many families fell away, unsure what to make of each other in constancy and chaotic situations. But for others, we found each other once again, realizing the greatest need we had could be fulfilled by those we were to love the best. God, You did this. You brought some of us back together that needed to be reminded of who stands on our frontlines, who are willing to wage the pandemic storms, armed with Your Word and ready to stand strong til the end. I will do my best to honor and not forget again.

So I’m thanking you with all my heart, with gratitude for all you’ve done. I will do everything I’ve promised you, Lord. Psalm 56:12 (TPT).’
