Baked Glazed Ham

Baked Ham is a beautiful thing! There is an air of festivity when you pull a ham out of the oven and place in on a board for presenting and slicing. Even though it isn’t hard to do there are some ways to ensure perfection.

  1. Always purchase high quality ham that is either on the bone or trimmed off the bone. The one pictured is trimmed off the bone.
  2. Keep the oven low, like at 325⁰ F or lower and be sure not to over bake it.
  3. Most hams can be baked for 15 minutes per pound.
  4. Cover the ham and add a little water to the pan so the ham does not dry out.
  5. Use a simple gaze of apricot jam, stirred up a little, to brush on the ham in the last 20 minutes of the baking time. Uncover the ham for those 20 minutes to get a nice shiny glaze.
  6. Let the ham rest for a few minutes before slicing it thin and serving it.

Any leftover ham may be chilled, sliced and served cold for awesome sandwich
