Brian’s Sky

By Toni Pacetti Stenmark

He used to want to paint the sky.

And time after time after time he would try

But he always saw the sky as being blue,

So those other colors would just never do.

He would put the paint on the canvas then just walk away,

“Those colors just aren’t right, the sky is not pink!” he’d say.

That seems like so very long ago when the sky was only blue.

Now I love to look out and see the beautiful sky noticing all the different colors way up high.

I can imagine him there painting each and every colored sky just for me.

“The sky’s not really blue, I painted all these colors for you to see!”

He shows me God’s beauty each and every day.

In colors so bright they seem to never fade.

I don’t believe I have seen a blue sky since Brian went away that day

He’s up there painting the colored sky in purples yellows pinks, and oranges too, but never in only just blue

Those plain blue skies don’t get noticed by me since “Brian’s Sky” is all I ever want to see.
