Day 9 – Fit For Life

Morning friends!

It’s Day 9!🙌😀

We’ve talked about setting goals for ourselves and some of you have shared your goals with us. Whether it’s fitness, work, home life, or my walk with God, I love setting goals for myself. There’s always something in my life that could stand improvement! One thing I’ve learned over the years is that there are no quick fixes when it comes to making progress on my goals. Real change takes real work and it takes time. We live in a “microwave” society and want results right now. However, fast and easy gains are also fast and easy losses. Many people get discouraged and frustrated when they don’t see changes fast enough. They may resort to trying the latest fad diet, or some “get rich quick” scheme to fix a financial issue. You can’t have the TV on for anytime without seeing an ad for the latest magical pill or potion to help you get that beach body in no time flat. The sad truth is so-called quick fixes never produce lasting change.

We’re talking about living a healthy lifestyle. Maybe you’d like to lose weight, or get in better shape. Well there are no magic pills for that. It is a daily process of making healthy choices and exercising. Making changes can be difficult at first, but after a while it becomes a lifestyle. It is a process. One day at a time. One choice at a time. Overcoming old habits is hard.
Just like getting healthier, the same goes for growing spiritually and becoming more like Jesus. We all have this stuff that gets in our way… like sin, selfishness, anger, or laziness just to name a few. These things keep us from getting close to God and being more like Him. The good news is, it is possible to overcome and make changes in our lives. But real change takes perseverance, diligence and leaning on God’s wisdom and not our own understanding. We learn most of our lessons in growing more like Christ by going through some trials in our lives.
Romans 5:3-4 says,”…but we also glory in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character, and character, hope.”

God is molding and shaping us into the image of His son Jesus. He can use everything that happens in our life to teach us to trust Him. We want to skip over the trials and tribulations part and get right to the good stuff. But as Christians, these things in our life are what produces real change in our character and draw us closer to Him. We learn to trust God by going through some unknowns in our life where we HAVE to trust Him. Maybe you’re going through a trial in your life right now. Trust God to use this time to draw you closer and make you more like Jesus.
James 1:2-4 says,” My brothers and sisters, count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may perfect and complete lacking nothing.”

Action Step 9👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Don’t fall into the trap of a quick fix to lose weight or get in shape. Real change comes from taking old, unhealthy habits and replacing them with new, healthier ones. Try writing down some unhealthy habits and how you’d like to replace those with new ones. Make a plan. Tell a friend so you have accountability. Let’s do this!!🙌😀💪🏻
