He Knows Well

Making Jesus known is one work He left for us to do. So we seek His word, live in His light and grow in a deeper relationship with Him. As we do, we become more confident that we know Him more personally and are equipped to share Him with others.

But when was the last time we remembered that He knows us even more? In fact, He knows us well. More than we know ourselves. No one needed to tell Him about every person, because he already knew what was in each of us (John 2:25), because in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).

The beginning of Psalm 139 says this truth beautifully,

"You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me." (vs. 1-5)

Someone who knows and understands us is good company. We feel loved and not alone. But looking in the wrong places, we can be left disappointed and discouraged when unappreciated and unapproved.

But the Lord Jesus, He always knows our highs and lows, our victories and failures, our strengths and weaknesses. He celebrates with and comforts us.

We sometimes don’t know what to say, but He hears the inaudible prayers of our hearts.

Though every day is a day of uncertainties, He knows what lies ahead of us and cares for us. He is concerned with every detail regarding us and He knows when is the right time and what is the right way to move in our situations. He is constantly in touch and involved in our lives.

He sees our deepest secrets and understands our deepest thoughts, yet loves us anyway. He is the Creator who is unconditionally in love with His creation. He touches us with this kind of love that no one else has. This overwhelming feeling is beyond description. You just experience the joy and peace that comes from knowing Him and Him knowing you.

A trusting heart prays and gives praise for God’s perfect knowledge of us. How He knows us deeply, personally and completely remains incomprehensible, so marvelous to even imagine. Such knowledge is too wonderful, too majestic for us to comprehend (Psalm 139:6). The thought of Him knowing all about me and you does not bring fear at all, but the confidence that His loving eyes are always set on us and His heart has always the best things concerning us. The God we serve is omniscient and His thoughts for us are precious! (Psalm 139:17)
