JUST BE 30-DAY CHALLENGE

Just Be Blessed – Day Six

Webster says ‘Blessed’ means divinely or supremely favored; fortunate

Synonyms: saved, holy, exalted, rewarded, highly favored, redeemed

God says in Psalm 1:1-3 ‘Blessed [fortunate, prosperous and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice or example], nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers [ridiculers]. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season; its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]. (AMP).’

I found it interesting today to read that even Webster profoundly regards ‘blessed’. The word ‘blessed’ has a connotation equal to holy, redeemed and exalted; highly or supremely favored. It is also recognized in this metaphor as someone who resembles ‘saved’. And praise to the God of this Universe, we, as human beings, can metaphorically, figuratively and literally be ‘blessed’!

But how do we do that?

I don’t know about you, but I for one do not see myself as righteous. Yet, God the Father views me (and you) through the lens of His Son Jesus who paid the ultimate price to cover my sin and my unrighteousness so that I might become righteous. (1 Corinthians 5:21 ‘God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God [NIV]).’ How powerful is it, that this pauper daughter, clothed in holey and sin-stained rags, is declared to be the righteousness of God, and is now adorned in the holy white-washed bridal dress of salvation. Now, that is blessed; that is redeemed!

But there is a requirement for being ‘dressed in blessed’. Unlike our simply stepping into each new day by showering and dressing ourselves in attire that attracts whatever the day offers, the disguise we hide effortlessly behind, this garment of blessing comes also with a precursor. We learn today that being blessed means one who is highly favored, and I believe, sought after and pursued by a holy God. We learn that we can be grounded, rooted, nourished, thriving, yielding, prospered and matured. But, as a prerequisite, we must make uncommon choices. It begins with immersing ourselves in conversation with our God, knowing Him, studying what He has to say and following where He leads. And as we dress ourselves in this each day, I can speculate we will not find ourselves first walking with nor eventually standing beside or inevitably sitting in the presence of those who mean harm to our character and integrity, which truly is blessed and that means redeemed.
