Light Of The World

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
Matthew 6:22

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16

Yeshua (Jesus) is the light of the world. And we as His image bearers on Earth also get the privilege of being called the light of the world. Now that’s a very high calling.

And also, our eyes are described as our light. So if our eye is good, we have light. It radiates the whole being. If we can’t see, we have darkness. But light brings life to the whole body. So how important it is to have the light continually shining in and through us?

When we look at someone in the eyes, the whole equation changes — things light up. People brighten-up when they are looked in the eyes and talked to. Connections happen and beautiful relationships are formed. The eyes tell the truth. Looking in the person’s eyes, we can know so much about their heart condition.

Same way, in the words of Mother Teresa, “Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness”.

When your speech and your actions both glorify God, you are letting your light shine brightly. God is the brightest light. The one who walks in Him, can not walk in darkness.

So, let’s be aware that we as ambassadors of Christ are the light bearers on God’s earth. The more aware we are to trim our lamps, or in other words, when we have oil in our lamps the brighter we shine.

God bless!
