Leading Lady Monday: Worship Pastor, Anna Evans
This month, Christian Women Living Magazine showcased Abundant Life Fellowship-Tahlequah and as we bring this month’s showcase to an end, we want to introduce the final Leading Lady. She is part of the wonderful worship team with a passion to lead worship in a way that the presence of God ushers in and pushes them out of the way. Meet Anna Evans from Abundant Life Fellowship- Tahlequah.
CKG: Please give us a brief introduction including your spouse, and introduction to the ministries within the church.
Anna Evans: Hi there! I am Anna Evans. I play the piano and assist my husband in planning and leading our worship team at Abundant Life in Tahlequah, OK. I am a graduate from the school of worship at Victory Bible College as well as a graduate of Victory World Mission Training Center. Most importantly, I am the wife to my best friend, Patrick. And a mom to the sweetest kiddos, Emma and Sam.
CKG: Share with our readers the biggest challenge of leading worship.
AE: The biggest challenge:
I would say the biggest challenge about being a part of a worship team is being so focused on accomplishing the technical side of our songs or set list that we forget our role as a worship team/leader.
I’ve heard it said that as worship leaders, during a service, we need to work ourselves out of a job. Meaning, our role as a worship team is to lead people into the awareness of His presence and then step out of the way. I live for the moments in worship where we forget we’re even in a service and it’s just us enjoying His presence.
CKG: What is the most satisfying about worship for you as a leader?
AE: I’ve often seen a visual of a worship team as pavers laying a path to the Father that people haven’t walked down before. Each week that we gather, God has something new for his people in His presence. And it is most rewarding to get to play a small part in leading people to the secret place and partnering with Him as he builds his Kingdom in the hearts of people.
CKG: Share with us a little about Abundant Life Fellowship
AE: Abundant Life is a place where everyone is welcome. We believe in helping people discover their identity in Christ, help them learn what they’re passionate about, and walk it out in their everyday lives. Abundant Life is community and outreach driven and we have a variety of ministries and opportunities to get involved here. Our services are at 9:30am and 11:15 on Sunday mornings and our life groups meet throughout the week at our church and different locations.
