“But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains; therefore was the king very wroth and his anger burned in him.” Esther 1:12 (NLT)

According to the Persian law of Biblical times, it was not a custom for men to allow other men to view their wives, especially a queen. So, Vashti was not entirely wrong to disobey the request of Xerxes was very angry. There are times its okay to not submit to something that goes against laws. Had Vashti followed Xerxes’ request she would have gone against the culture of her people. She may also have been in a situation that was uncomfortable.

Even though we trust the person, we still have the choice to do what we know is right. We always want to make wise decisions that affect our lives. We don’t want to be found in a position that may be compromising to our witness.

LadyBug know that God will accept our choice to protect our witness as long it lines up with His word and instruction. He wants us to make wise decisions based on His Word and the laws. We need to make sure of the situation before we submit to something that others may ask of us. Their intentions may not always be godly and could be detrimental to our witness.

Let us be quick to observe the situation someone may be leading us into so that we will not find ourselves in a not so good situation.
