dig DEEP

2 Timothy 3:16-17, ‘God has transmitted His very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.’ (TPT)

There are so many nuggets buried in God’s Word that it is wisdom which causes us to go exploring. To excavate God’s truths is a lifelong task, but so very worthwhile if we will not give up, or decide we have found all we need or think we have enough of everything there is to find. It’s discovery that lies ahead and behind the excavation of God’s Word, all its meanings and its importance and its revelation. That is because there is so much God wants His children to know.

His Word is an instruction manual. How many times have we mumbled stuff like, ‘I wish my kid came with an instruction booklet.’ or ‘I don’t know…life didn’t come with a manual.’ ‘It sure would have been nice if someone had given me a handbook.’ But, the truth is, we are coaches and teammates and sports enthusiasts of the best playbook ever written, and that is the Bible. It is an instruction manual that, if followed closely, can direct you through any situation you face, can answer any question you might contemplate, can solve any mystery you are mystified by, is balm for what bothers you and salve for what hurts you. It is truth and wisdom, and grants grace, peace and love with every turn of the page. If you will schedule your next dig around exploring and excavating the pages of this Book, you will find all the FAQs and answers you can imagine, and many you do not.

It is said there was a village once upon a time that was one of the poorest in the world. It was a beautiful place but the people that inhabited the land just barely got by. They were kind enough, and, while life was a struggle, they endured the hardship of having less instead of more, of always being poor and hungry and unable to progress successfully in life. Life was difficult as the villagers wrestled to survive. A century or more would pass by before undiscovered riches leading to immense wealth would be discovered beneath the land on which the village was built. All those years, they sat on mines of intense riches, never to fully know the valuable soil underneath their feet!

We are like those villagers. We have great wealth hidden within the pages of the immutable Word of God, and yet we don’t tap into it. We don’t dig deep and seek what riches might lie inside the heart He gave us scripted on parchment paper. We can never go wrong, seeking His Word and discovering all that is written there, that will help us in this journey called life.

Isaiah 55:10-11, ‘”As the snow and rain that fall from heaven do not return until they have accomplished their purpose, soaking the earth and causing it to sprout with new life, providing seed to sow and bread to eat, so also will be the Word that I speak; it does not return to Me unfulfilled. My Word performs My purpose and fulfills the mission I sent it to accomplish.”’ (TPT)
